The Manchester at MIPIM partnership has unveiled new plans to significantly expand the city’s presence at the international property event in 2017.
Held last night (Thurs 15 September) in KPMG’s offices at One St. Peter’s Square, the Manchester at MIPIM 2017 launch welcomed an audience of senior property professionals to hear how the city will be transforming its approach at Cannes next March.
Manchester exhibits annually at MIPIM, the world’s leading property market held annually in Cannes, France. The global event brings together the most influential players from all international property sectors, offering unrivalled access to promote the city-region to the greatest number of development projects and sources of investment worldwide.
Thanks to many years of Manchester’s successful partnership approach at the event, the crowd were told, Manchester’s ambitions have grown, and as such a step change would be needed for 2017.
The partnership will now be occupying an entirely new venue for 2017. Situated on the famous Cannes Croisette, the Manchester Pavilion will offer more space, longer availability and better facilities than the city-region has ever had before at MIPIM.
This new location will place Manchester next door to London’s well-established and widely-recognised Pavilion, and alongside leading European cities Paris and St. Petersburg.
Providing 456m2 of covered space plus a 58.5m long terrace, the Manchester Pavilion will more than double the amount of room Manchester has historically worked with.
Divided into three sections, it will consist of:
All this means that for the first time Manchester is able to provide a comprehensive programme of events under one roof, from 8am to 11pm.
Speaking at the event, Sheona Southern, Managing Director of Marketing Manchester said: “The Manchester city-region has a long and successful history with MIPIM. We first exhibited in 2000, and since then have grown our presence steadily along with the event. Today, MIPIM is a staple of the property event calendar, and the Manchester partnership is one of their most prominent exhibitors.
“Last year saw the largest Manchester partnership yet, with 99 organisations and over 200 delegates, making Manchester the second largest delegation out of 550 global cities attending.
“However the Manchester partnership is much too ambitious to stop there, and it’s with continued growth in mind that today we announce bold new plans for Manchester at MIPIM 2017.
“The Manchester Pavilion is a fantastic opportunity for the partnership, and will form a critical new step in building on our presence at MIPIM, furthering the work we do with the private sector to position the Manchester Growth Strategy firmly on an international platform.”
Manchester at MIPIM is a private sector focused partnership, strategically led by Manchester City Council and coordinated by Marketing Manchester, with the aim of promoting the Manchester city-region to an international audience of property professionals.
For 2017, Manchester at MIPIM partners will also have the opportunity to submit an event proposal which, if successful, will be adopted into the official Manchester programme of events. There are six potential events available, and deadline for submissions is 30th November 2016.
