Manchester takes centre stage at MIPIM 2026 with £1bn growth fund and major regeneration announcements

  • Major announcements will include the next Good Growth Fund recipients, with a core focus on the £1 billion fund

The Manchester Invest Partnership has revealed the schedule of events that will take place on the Manchester stand during MIPIM 2026 in Cannes (10th to 13th March).

The programme, under the strapline “Breaking boundaries, building tomorrow”, will showcase Greater Manchester’s 10-year integrated growth pipeline, with major announcements including the launch of Middleton MDC, the next recipients of Good Growth Fund investment and the next phase of MIX Manchester.

Confirmed speakers across the three days include Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, Cllr Bev Craig Leader of Manchester City Council, Tom Stannard Chief Executive of Manchester City Council, Paul Dennett City Mayor of Salford, Steve Coogan and Rose Marley Co-Chairs of Middleton Co-Operative Mayoral Development Corporation.

The draft programme

Opening the programme will be a session on Greater Manchester’s vision, strategy and planned growth. This session will set the scene for the week, led by Cllr Bev Craig and Caroline Simpson, discussing the growth story so far and the vision for the next decade.

A major session on the main UK stage will showcase the £1 billion Good Growth Fund. The session will feature Andy Burnham, Greater Manchester Mayor, and Cllr Bev Craig, revealing the next recipients of funding. A follow-up session on the Manchester stand will go into further detail on the Good Growth Fund, exploring how it has come together, how the pot will grow and how returning capital will be reinvested, as well as how to apply and the criteria for funding.

Quality affordable housing delivery across Greater Manchester will be explored, spotlighting the variety and quality of homes being built for growing communities.

A spotlight session will provide an update on major projects in Manchester including Wythenshawe, Holt Town and Strangeways.

A panel discussion exploring the vast potential of the new masterplan for Old Trafford Regeneration beyond the stadium and the impact it will have regionally and nationally, is expected to draw in the crowds.

A spotlight session on MIX Manchester exploring the UK's best-connected science, innovation, and manufacturing campus.

How Greater Manchester is future-proofing its commercial portfolio will be examined, providing a market update and exploring the impact of the Good Growth Fund on major schemes including the Kendals’ project.

Steve Coogan and Rose Marley, Co-Chairs of the Middleton Co-Operative Mayoral Development Corporation will put the spotlight on community engagement during the discussion Middleton, Greater Manchester: Our Town, Our Future, a co-operative approach to regeneration on the UK Stage.

A spotlight session with updates from the Stockport Mayoral Development Corporation.

Greater Manchester’s creative industries will be showcased, highlighting the scale and scope of what can be delivered in terms of investment and jobs, the support network and the successful and growing screen sector.

A special session will celebrate Bruntwood’s 50th anniversary, with Chris Oglesby in conversation reflecting on 50 years of public sector partnerships, collaboration and the growth of the city.

A deep dive into the progression of Manchester’s residential and build to rent market, ‘The city living boom has only just begun: how demand is driving growth’ will share insight on demand and supply, demographics, the current state of play and future projections from Manchester City Council.

An update on Manchester’s ambitious CyanLines project, to create a 100+miles network for walking, wheeling and cycling linking its green and blue spaces and what it means for economic growth and climate resilience.

A lively discussion is anticipated exploring the role of housing in Manchester’s growth. The session will examine how Manchester is reimagining what it means to live well in a growing European city through major regeneration projects such as Victoria North, encompassing Red Bank and Collyhurst, and how housing can shape whole neighbourhoods that support wellbeing, inclusion, and long-term resilience.

There will be a deep dive into Manchester’s growth engines, examining how the region’s sector clusters and powering the jobs of the future.

The programme will conclude with a spotlight session on the next generation of property talent. Caroline Simpson, Chief Executive of Greater Manchester Combined Authority, will speak with two of the region’s graduates while looking into programmes like Regeneration Brainery and Greater Manchester’s Regeneration Skills Academy supporting young people within property and regeneration.
