Manchester Invest Partner, Mansell Building Solutions has announced plans to move to a new facility in Oldham to better support its growing pipeline of projects.
Mansell Building Solutions has announced it will be moving into the Broadway Business Park in Chadderton Oldham, leading to hopes it will see a ‘massive boost and jobs and opportunities’ in the borough.
Mansell has signed a 10-year lease for a warehouse in Broadway, a business complex that was developed in partnership with Oldham Council, after seeing its workload increase significantly.
Currently operating from a site in Horwich, Mansell Building Solutions now requires a facility that better meets its production requirements and provides the capacity needed to play its part in delivering the regional target of 75,000 new homes per year.
The new sizeable at Oldham Broadway Business Park is circa 45,000 sq ft and is a modern detached warehouse with offices. The new operation will enable Mansell to service their current sites across Wigan, Manchester, Trafford, Salford & Stockport, and future sites within Greater Manchester quicker and easier.
The new site will also have dedicated areas for training up employees, including at apprenticeship level.
The presence of the major building company could help the borough establish itself as being ‘serious about business’, according to Oldham Council leader Arooj Shah, who hopes the move will bring job opportunities to residents.
Leader of Oldham Council, Councillor Arooj Shah said: “This news is a massive boost for the local economy and we're thrilled Mansell Building Solutions is coming to the borough. Mansell Building Solutions is a real success story and a growing firm. This is amazing for Oldham because a thriving company means jobs and opportunities for Oldham people.
“Firms like Mansell Building Solutions are increasingly seeing the borough as a place to invest and as somewhere that is serious and proactive about business. We looking forward to working closely with them in the coming years."
She also praised the firm for being one of the few ‘women-led’ construction companies, which she likened to the ‘pioneering attitude of Annie Kenney’, a famous suffragette from Oldham.
Angela Mansell, a managing director of Mansell Building Solutions added:
Our framework appointments and multiple contract awards for projects currently spread across five Greater Manchester Boroughs (Trafford, Wigan, Salford, Stockport & Manchester) necessitate a facility that better serves our growing needs.
“Alongside manufacturing output in a controlled environment, and enabling us to increase our manufacturing input, we’ll have dedicated areas for CPDs, demonstrations, knowledge sharing, trainees and apprentices; all elements that feed into our ability to provide building certainty.
“We feel a certain synergy with Oldham as it’s a forward-thinking borough under female leadership with a supportive council that openly and actively welcomes business growth, so we’re only too pleased to make it our new home.
“We’re also remaining strong to our Greater Manchester roots by staying within the region; a place where we’ve proudly delivered quality buildings for more than 30 years.”
