Greengage: The Future of Sustainability

As sustainable development remains high on the agenda for Greater Manchester's built environment partners, the sector is always trying to look one step ahead. Manchester at UKREiiF partner Greengage recently released “Green age” a future insights report that presents the findings from interviews with 60 leaders in sustainability across the built environment industry.

Sustainable development is not only a leading theme at UKREiiF for 2023, but it is one of the priorities of Greater Manchester as a city-region. With a science-based target to be net zero by 2038, twelve years ahead of the UK Government target, Greater Manchester's local authorities, private sector partners and more are coming together to create a more sustainable approach to the built environment for generations to come.

Manchester at UKREiiF partner Greengage recently released “Green age” a future insights report that presented the findings from interviews with 60 leaders in sustainability across the built environment industry.

Sustainability is evolving. Five years ago, the key issue for our partners was the link between sustainable development and wellbeing. They also predicted the next big trend would be electric vehicles. So, how have those views on sustainability changed five years on?

Through conversations with key players in the construction and built environment industry, Greengage hoped to learn more about the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.

The report uncovers what's changed in the industry, what are the barriers to exemplar sustainable development and what's the next big thing in sustainability.
